New Ciscoe pruning videos; help City Fruit win $50,000!

Check out two new pruning videos I produced with zany Ciscoe Morris, Seattle gardening guru, for City Fruit.

In “This Branch Must Go!” Ciscoe teaches Kristen Ramer Liang how to prune a fruit tree and how to keep her tree from looking like Medusa.

In “Loppers vs. Saws” Ciscoe and Kristen talk about pruning tools. Gear loppers are the greatest pruning tool I’ve seen in years.

The videos helped City Fruit to be chosen as a finalist of the “Communities with Drive” contest, sponsored by Zipcar, Inc. and Ford Motor Company. Communities with Drive acknowledges and rewards organizations that have a profound impact on their communities.

As one of 25 finalists from over 400 entries and the only finalist in Seattle, City Fruit is eligible to win $50,000 in cash as well as $15,450 in Zipcar credit to support its mission. Public votes on Facebook determine the winner.

City Fruit does important work. Volunteers pick fruit from people’s fruit trees that would otherwise go to waste and donate that fruit to people who need it. Food banks don’t often get fresh produce to distribute, and half of Seattle families facing hunger are not eligible for nutrition programs like food stamps. City Fruit helps fill the gap.
