Video teaches home fruit tree growers how to choose pruning tools

What tools do you really need to prune your fruit tree? Zany Ciscoe Morris, Seattle garden guru, helps sort out the choices. Ciscoe talks about how not to fall off a ladder and why you should own a gear lopper. He shows Kristen how to choose, sharpen and clean her pruning tools.

Green Gardening workshops help landscapers adopt sustainable practices

Annette Frahm has organized and presented workshops for the landscape industry for more than a decade. She has worked as part of the Green Gardening Program team to plan and organize its annual workshops. Attendees consistently rate the workshops as very informative and useful.

For the 2014 annual workshop she planned and organized a session on pollinators. Attendees rated the session’s usefulness at 4.2 on a 5-point scale.

Workshop improves work with streamside landowners

Annette Frahm conceived, organized and facilitated workshop to help local governments and nonprofit organizations work more effectively with streamside landowners. Evaluations for the workshop were positive. Everyone thought it was at least somewhat useful, and 70% said it was very or extremely useful. People valued meeting others who are working with streamside landowners, and several said they would have liked more time for networking. Others said they would have liked a longer workshop. People really liked hearing about Snohomish County’s research and strategies. The workshop won a national Clarion award from Association for Women in Communications. Client: Lake Washington/Cedar/Sammamish Watershed (WRIA 8).

Presentation helps people be more effective at changing environmental behavior

Annette Frahm developed and presented “Cutting to the Chase: Proven Methods to Change Environmental Behavior” at eight Storming the Sound conferences over two years, filling the room every time. The presentation uses insights from behavioral economics, social psychology and brain science to help people understand behaviors and communicate more effectively.

Presentations teach horticulture students about pesticides

Annette Frahm organized guest speakers at horticulture schools for the Green Gardening Program for several years. She also prepared and delivered PowerPoint presentations on the topics of pesticide concerns, changes in pesticide regulation and manages weeds.
